Hill named to Cousy Award Watch List

Before playing his first collegiate game, Florida freshman point guard Kasey Hill was named to the 2014 Bob Cousy Award Watch List on Tuesday. The annual honor recognizes the top point guards in college basketball.

The watch list was created by a committee of media members and ‘influential people' within college basketball from around the country.

Kasey Hill is one of the 46 members on the watch list, joining elite players like Keith Appling (Michigan State), Aaron Craft (Ohio State) and Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State). Hill is the second Southeastern Conference freshman point guard on the list with Kentucky's Andrew Harrison.

Hill, a former five-star point guard, is expected to begin the season as the starting point guard while Scottie Wilbekin serves an indefinite suspension.

"The Bob Cousy Award promotes the values of leadership, determination, and teamwork, all skills needed not only on the hardwood but also in life," said Ken Kaufman, Chair of the Bob Cousy Award and former president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). "Mr. Cousy exemplified all of these traits, and continues to be an inspiration to basketball players on and off the court."

Florida opens the season with an exhibition game against Florida Southern on November 1. The regular season starts against North Florida on November 8.
