Tony James Talks with Gators

Three star running back Tony James announced his decision to play for the Oregon Ducks. The 5-foot-9, 172-pound speed merchant checks in from Gainesville (Fla.) high school and has stayed in contact with the Florida coaching staff.

Tony James has stayed in touched with head coach Will Muschamp and running back coach Brian White from the University of Florida. The talented back is looking at the Gators and keeping his options open.

"Me and coach Muschamp have a pretty good relationship," Tony James said. "He calls me and we talk about a lot of things like life and football and coach White is the coach that is recruiting me the most."

When you have the kind of speed that James has you bring a lot of different things to the table no matter the offense.

"I think what I bring to the table most is speed and the ability to play both the running back/slot wide receiver and catch the ball in the open field, read the hole and get north and south. I like running back the most because I have played it my whole life and I feel more comfortable there but I love playing both."

James knows that with the recent struggles of the Florida offense he would have an opportunity to come in early and play.

"Honestly it would humble me because it shows me how blessed I am. I have been on the UF campus a number of times and the family and I talked about distance a lot but they told me it's wherever I wanted to go the most." Take:

James is a tremendous running back prospect. He is small at 5-foot-9 but dangerous. James has great change of direction, can stop plant his foot and cut on a dime. He is fast with very quick feet and gets to full speed in a hurry once he has made a cut. He has shown good hands as a receiver out of the backfield and can line up at slot receiver and create speed mismatches versus linebackers. Always a threat to score with the ball in his hands. Tony James is everything the University of Florida offense is looking for.
