Injuries continue to mount

Things aren't going to be any better for the Gators on the injury front when they host Florida State next weekend. Florida sustained quite a few more injuries Saturday in the devastating loss to Georgia Southern on top of the dozen or so they had coming into the contest.

We found out early in the game that the Gators would be without some players they were expecting. Defensive end Jonathan Bullard missed the game Saturday from an MCL sprain and quarterback Tyler Murphy didn't suit up because of his lingering shoulder issues.

Muschamp filled in with the rest which included injuries in game to linebackers Michael Taylor, Darrin Kitchens, and Alex Anzalone. That marks four linebackers, (three middle backers) that missed most or all of the game. Also cornerback Marcus Roberson missed the game due to an ankle injury.

"Darrin Kitchen has a shoulder," Muschamp said about his senior linebacker. "He did come back and finish the game. Michael Taylor has an MCL (injury) and probably out next week. Anzalone has a shoulder dislocation and I don't know how severe it was. Bullard practiced this week and Wednesday he had some swelling on his knee. Thursday he didn't feel like he could go in this game. Marcus Roberson had an ankle."

We got to finds out who the fourth middle linebacker was when senior walk-on David Campbell from Live Oak Suwanee played most of the second half at the position. Muschamp liked what his senior brought to the game in a pinch.

"Darrin went down, Mike went down, and Antonio was down," he said. "We were scrambling there and David came in and actually did a nice job."

Muschamp also said that freshman receiver Demarcus Robinson was suspended for the game and in fact will miss next week's game with Florida State as well.

"He's suspended for the rest of the season, for not acting right," Muschamp said.

All of today's and this week's injuries are compounded with all of the season ending injuries from the team. Florida has been without starting quarterback Jeff Driskel since game three. Backup quarterback Tyler Murphy has missed the last two games and freshman Skyler Mornhinweg has played in his place. Starting running back Matt Jones has missed the last six games due to a season ending injury. Florida is down their top three offensive tackles in with starters Chaz Green, D.J. Humphries, and top back up Tyler Moore out the season with injuries. They are also missing their top deep threat and kickoff returner Andre Debose for the entire season.

On defense, starting defensive tackle Dominique Easley has missed the last seven games. Starting middle linebacker Antonio Morrison missed the last two weeks, freshman linebacker Matt Rolin has missed the entire year. Freshmen defensive backs Marcell Harris and Nick Washington have also missed the entire season due to injuries.
