Freshman Vernon Hargreaves made his way onto the field early in his career, and the Associated Press rewarded him for it by placing the cornerback on the First Team All-SEC on Monday. Defensive end Dante Fowler and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy were both named to the Second Team All-SEC.
ended the season seventh on the Florida
roster in tackles with 38. He had a team-high three interceptions that all came in the first four games of the season before opposing teams started to shy away from throwing at the freshman. Hargreaves also led the team with 11 pass breakups while becoming the most trusted player in the Florida secondary.
Dante Fowler and Loucheiz Purifoy were each on the Second Team All-SEC.
Fowler was fifth on the team with 50 tackles, leading the team with 10.5 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. Fowler added 3.5 sacks, just one-half behind Ronald Powell for the team lead, and seven quarterback hurries.
Purifoy has already announced his intentions to enter the NFL Draft and not return for his senior year. The junior ended the season with two interceptions, seven pass breakups, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
There were no Florida players named to the First Team or Second Team offense.
