Gators move up in polls

Florida continued its ascent up the college basketball polls this week after a win over Savannah State on Sunday.

Florida came in at No. 12 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. Iowa State, who remains 11-0 this season, jumped the Gators in the Coaches' Poll while the Gators remained higher in the AP Poll. Louisville fell below Florida in the AP Poll after losing to Kentucky over the weekend but dropped only to No. 10 in the Coaches' Poll.

The Gators remained the highest ranked team in the Southeastern Conference. Kentucky came in at No. 15 in the AP Poll and No. 16 in the Coaches' Poll. Missouri is No. 25 in both polls.

Florida's only two losses this season came at No. 4/5 Wisconsin and at No. 17/15 Connecticut.

The Gators completed a 76-34 win over Savannah State on Sunday in the O'Connell Center. Florida now has five days to practice before hosting Richmond on January 4 at 3 p.m. to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule.

Florida starts conference play by hosting South Carolina on January 8 at 7 p.m.
