The Hurricanes Are the Latest to Offer Porter

Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson athlete, Deiondre Porter, was offered by the Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

It's been a joyful past couple of days in the Porter household, to say the least. Deiondre Porter, an extraordinary athlete who piled up 4,698 yards and 53 touchdowns for Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson in 2013, picked up scholarship offers from two instate powers this week.

On Monday morning, Will Muschamp and the Gators were the one first ones to offer the South Florida commit. Fast forward a day later, Al Golden and the Miami Hurricanes were the next ones in line to offer the Tampa Bay Times' All-Suncoast Offensive Player of the Year.

"It's very big (offer)," Porter said. "There is a lot of tradition there. Coach (Larry) Scott (tight ends) called to set up a visit when it happened."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete is scheduled to visit Gainesville this weekend to see what the Florida Gators have to offer, and Wisconsin the following weekend. A visit to Coral Gables on Jan. 31 is a possibility, but those plans are still in the works.

Porter was a 1st-Team 6A All-State selection in the state of Florida, and is being recruited as an athlete by Al Golden and the Hurricanes coaching staff.
