Francois gets the offer he wanted

It's always nice when you interview a star athlete and they come off very humble. So goes it with quarterback Deondre Francois of Orlando (Fla.) Olympia. When asked what his stats were for his junior season, he boasted not about how many yards or touchdowns he threw and ran for, but that he only had four interceptions. That was something that likely led to his offer from Florida on Monday.

With over 2,000 yards passing and 17 touchdowns through the air combined with over 1300 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns, Deondre Francois is one heck of a dual threat quarterback.

He already has offers from big time offensive teams like Louisville, USF, North Carolina, and Clemson and as of Sunday afternoon he was hoping from an offer from the Florida Gators.

Francois admitted he was a Miami fan growing up when he lived down in South Florida, but that has changed. He tries not to be a fan of any team now that he is in the recruiting process.

But one of the closest programs near him caught his attention and when interviewed Sunday after his 7 on 7 practice with the local Orlando Rat Pack team, he talked about Florida and why he would like an offer from the Gators.

"I am excited about their new offense," he said. "I have been looking into them. I think I fit their offense pretty well, so that is why I want the offer."

It helped a good bit that Florida assistant Brian White was in attendance Sunday as his son is on the Rat Pack team. With White watching on, he was impressed with Francois. The offer from Florida head coach Will Muschamp would come the next day.

"Coach watched me as I threw at the 7on7 practice," Francois said. "Monday morning, I talked to coach on Twitter and he said to give him a call. I talked to him and Muschamp and they gave me an offer.

"It was very exciting. I really wasn't expecting it, especially from Florida. It is kind of awesome because they have an offense coming in where I really fit the offense."

After watching film, the Florida staff went through with the offer and there is a lot to like about Francois.

"My mental aspect," francois replied when asked what the coaches liked. "My decision making, arm strength, and my feet… everything comes together after that."

Francois is looking at high octane offenses for hsis next journey and rattled off some of the best when asked what other schools he is really looking into.

"I am interested in Clemson, Texas A&M, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Baylor," he said.

A year away from signing day, Francois also has an idea of the things he is looking for in a school.

"I am looking for how the city is," he said. "Does it feel at home? I want to know the coaches. I need to feel the atmosphere. I want to fit into the offense. Will I play right away? School is big for me and I want to major in business."

Francois says he would like to attend Junior days at Florida, Clemson and USF in the coming weeks.

I am trying to go to Clemson's junior Day, Florida's Junior Day, and maybe USF.
