Bello on the verge of SEC offers

Florida is just one of many SEC programs that have dropped in to see massive 2015 offensive tackle Abdul Bello in the last week or so. The Florida Gators were by on Wednesday and expect to return to see the Nigerian native who has only played one year of organized football.

Florida assistant coach Brian White went to check in Abdul Bello on Wednesday. Just arriving in America shortly before the football season, Bello has trained for football for a few years, but got his first taste of live action when he joined Montverde Academy in August.

Coach Walter Banks is hearing a lot from big time programs regarding Bello lately and the Gators have been on him a while now.

"Coach White just came down to see Abdul Bello," Banks told "He likes his size. He's a big kid at 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds and very lean. He said that Coach Muschamp would be calling very soon about him."

Bello did visit Florida in November at the Florida State game and will be coming back to Gainesville at the first of next month. Banks thinks his big man may get some news about an offer before then.

"I am going to bring him to Junior Day at Florida on February 1," banks said. "I hope (there is some good news) before then, to tell you the truth. With the relationship I have at the University of Florida, I hope that helps him a lot."

Bello is a wonderfully gifted athlete for his size. He moves very well and mauls people in front of him as well. Quite remarkably, he has taken to coaching so much that Banks says he seems like a veteran already.

"I can't call him really raw anymore," Banks said. "He is such a smart kid and picks up on things very well."

College coaches are noticing. Tennessee visited early Thursday and is coming back again on the same day.

"Missouri, Tennessee has been to school and on their way back today, Georgia, Kentucky, there is a lot of SEC love this past week," Banks said about his star lineman. "We are close to getting offered, that is why they are coming back. Florida is coming back next week, Coach Summers and Coach Muschamp next week. "
