"I like the competition," Macon said following the tryout on Sunday. "When you come out here, you have to play hard. If you don't play hard you will get embarrassed."
His junior year was impressive and something the 6-foot, 170 pounder would like to improve on. "I did well, but I could have done better," he said. "I had 675 yards, 10 touchdowns, only 35 receptions. I was getting eight yards after contact."
His quickness is noticeable and his explosion helps him separate.
"My strengths are getting off the ball and playing the ball inside," he said. "I come back to the ball pretty well."
No scholarship offers yet, but they are coming. Lots of schools have been paying attention and contacting him. Florida State, Missouri, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Duke, Kentucky, Miami, Florida, and Georgia are some that are keeping in contact.
With his recruitment wide open, Macon knows what he is looking for in a program.
"I am looking for a spread offense, or one that I know that can get me the ball," he said. "I want to make sure there is a good quarterback and a team that believes in each other."
