Florida sophomore Michael Frazier was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The Gators went 2-0 last week with wins over Alabama and Tennessee, led by 35 combined points from Frazier.
It came after a downswing. Frazier was held scoreless on January 18 at Auburn
. The Tigers zoned in on him and wanted to take him out of the game. It worked, as Frazier was held scoreless and without a three-pointer made for the first time this season.
The coaches and his teammates challenged him to keep shooting and keep his head up. He responded with two strong games to earn SEC Player of the Week.
"It's a great honor," Michael Frazier said. "It just shows that hard work pays off. Continue to strive to get better each and every day. Continue to focus on the team."
Frazier hit five three-pointers against Alabama, his fifth game with at least five three-pointers this season. Last year, no Florida player had more than two games with five three-pointers made.
