Gators continue to climb polls

Florida finished a 2-0 week with a dominant win over Tennessee on Saturday in Gainesville. The national recognition continues to grow for the team, as Florida moved up in the polls again this week.

The Associated Press poll moved Florida to No. 3 while the USA Today Coaches Poll pushed Florida to No. 4. The discrepancy in the rankings comes because of Wichita State. The Shockers moved to 21-0 this weekend, but the Gators jumped them in the Associated Press poll while Wichita State came in ahead of Florida at No. 3 in the Coaches' Poll.

The challenge for Florida comes in handling the success. Last year, Florida jumped to the No. 2 team in the country before hitting the road and getting blown out at Arkansas. The veterans on the team have seen the Gators receive a high ranking in recent seasons, only to suffer a letdown and lose soon after.

Florida coach Billy Donovan is hoping his team has learned from their mistakes.

"As a coach you always want to go into every game on edge and understanding that in any competitive situation anything can happen," Billy Donovan said. "Hopefully our guys will respond to that."

The Gators hit the road on Thursday to face Mississippi State at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
