Bryant sets a deadline

Kelly Bryant has been to Clemson a lot over the last two years. With just over a year before his National Signing Day, he's closing in on a decision.

While it's still several months away, Bryant knows when he wants to make his commitment. That, he told CUTigers earlier this week, will be later this spring.

In the meantime, the Wren High School junior has a pair of visits lined up to two of the suitors that are making a serious charge for his pledge. Clemson will host Bryant on Saturday for Junior Day. He'll hit up N.C. State's a day later.

Bryant, who's been a regular on the Clemson campus since he was a calling the signals as a freshman at Abbeville, looks forward to his next trip to Tigertown.

"I know my way around and everything, but I just want to sit down and talk to the coaches, see where I stand with recruiting and everything, so basically that," Bryant said.

His offer sheet hasn't changed. It still includes Clemson, N.C. State, South Carolina, UNC, Duke, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Appalachian State.

"Virginia Tech and Tennessee have been showing strong interest lately. So, possibly, I would think those two, but we'll just have to see," Bryant said.

Dabo Swinney and Jeff Scott checked in on Bryant on Tuesday. Chad Morris was there last week. In addition to the Clemson coaches, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Duke have been by Wren. UNC will be by Friday.

Who leads?

"I don't have any."

Several factors will be considered.

"To find the perfect fit for me outside of football, and if they have my major, to be in a family atmosphere," Bryant said. "Those two are the major, outside of football.

"Inside of football; how I fit with the coaches and if it's a great relationship with them."

After football, Bryant wants to go into physical therapy.

As a junior at Wren, Bryant completed 187 of 298 passes for 2,665 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He rushed 189 times for 1,174 yards and 18 scores and had 192 kickoff return yards.

As a freshman at Abbeville, he threw for 323 yards and rushed for 670 yards with nine touchdowns.
