Alexander meets Roper for the first time

Lakeland Christian Academy quarterback Christian Alexander has been to the Florida campus quite a few times during this recruiting process. But, he spent this Junior Day on Saturday getting to know offensive coordinator Kurt Roper who he met for the first time. Alexander says he likes what he sees out of the new look Gator offense and it fits his style well.

Florida has been recruiting Christian Alexander hard and for a while now. On Saturday he got to meet Roper, who will be implementing a new offense this spring. Roper likesa lot of what Alexander brings to the table.

"It went pretty good," Alexander said of the visit. "I got to meet Coach Roper for the first time and he's a good guy. He said he likes me a lot. He is going to come down and see me in the Spring, and we will take it from there (about an offer)."

Alexander is both an athlete and reads defenses well as a quarterback. His dual threat capabilities could be a nice fit at Florida.

"I like the Read option and the power game and the passing game," he said of the new Florida offense. " It's a pro-style passing game but a spread offense. "

Despite the many trips to Gainesville, Alexander did see a few new things over the weekend.

"I did get to see where the players eat for the first time and then where they do the weight training," he said.

Alexander has a scholarship offer from Miami and says he will be making a couple of trips in the not-so-distant future.

"I am visiting USF on Wednesday and UCF coming up pretty soon," he said.
