Sweet visit to Florida

Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast lineman William Sweet ventured over to Gainesville this weekend to take in Florida's Junior Day. The versatile two-way lineman came with teammates and liked the visit. The Gators are intrigued by Sweet, but aren't sure whether they like him on offense or defense. Without a preference, Sweet continues on his recruiting journey, but talked briefly about his trip.

William Sweet is a 6-foot-7, 275 pound motor of a lineman that can reach on the fastest defensive end or get after the ball carrier if asked to do so. The junior Buccaneer spent Saturday in Gainesville visiting with the Gators and said he had a good time doing so.

"It was great and fun," Sweet said Saturday evening. "I met a lot of nice people. I liked the athletic facilities and the campus. I just had a lot of fun today. They showed my teammates and I around and it was just fun."

Sweet holds offers from the likes of from North Carolina, Wake Forest, Purdue, Cincinnati, Miami, NC State, Nebraska, and others and the Gators like him a lot, but want to see him play live and aren't sure exactly where they want him on the roster.

"They are going to come during the spring," he said of the Florida staff. "They want to see me play in person. They like me as an athlete right now."

Sweet says he doesn't care, he just wants to get on the field, but most want him on offense.

"Mostly left tackle, but Cincinnati wants me as a defensive end," he said of schools recruiting him to a specific position. "If they need me to play kicker, I will be fine doing that."
