Gators make impression on 5-star receiver

The number one receiver in the country visited as a verbal commitment to the Tennessee Vols and remains that way, but the Florida Gators gave him something to think about on the trip.

Preston Williams has the chance to go anywhere and play college football. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Williams is the number one receiver in the country according to He committed early to Tennessee, but is keeping his options open a bit by making visits to big time programs. Florida was on the list this weekend and the Gators stood out.

"I liked the people," Williams said Sunday about his weekend visit. "Coach Muschamp is a great guy."

Florida is looking to make drastic strides on offense and are changing the way they play the game on that side of the ball, going from run-first pro-style offense, to a spread attack. This is something that caught the attention of Williams on his visit.

"It is going to be a pro-spread, so I work best in that," he said. "I know I can help that offense a whole lot."

Williams said he will be visiting Tennessee and Georgia coming up soon and says he will likely be back to visit Florida again sometime. He offered his final thoughts on the Gators.

"They made a good first impression," he said. "I love Florida but I am still committed to the Vols."
