The UCLA offer came in this week and it is enough to make the Florida native want to visit all the way out West.
"I am excited about it," he said of the offer. "I look forward to taking a visit during the season and just taking my time with this process. I like the school and where they are headed. I have never been to Los Angeles, but we'll see how it goes."
For Simmons it appears he is looking for a program that offers an enriched environment, one that isn't all about football, but does have premium talent and tradition in the sport.
"I am looking for a great environment and a place that has my major," Simmons said. "I also want a place with great coaches and players. I am interested in a place with great people around me every day."
One other program that is hard after Simmons is Florida. The Gators are in dire need of primo speed at the running back position and Simmons certainly brings that to the table. He certainly has a high opinion of the Florida program.
"Florida is up there too," Simmons said. "It's a local school and town favorite. I just want to take a couple of more visits to see how I feel there. They just need to keep playing ball."
He plans on seeing Florida in the next month or so.
"I will probably visit after my spring break and go watch a practice or two," Simmons said.
