Simmons adds UCLA offer

T.J. Simmons is a speedy 2015 running back out of Lakeland Christian Academy in Lakeland, Florida. With offers starting to pile up from everywhere, Simmons will have a lot to consider over the next year. His most recent is one from the West Coast and the UCLA Bruins. It is an offer that has piqued his interest.

It is track season for T.J. Simmons and running a 10.8 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.85 seconds in the 200 meters, is not to uncommon for the 6-foot-1, 190 pound back. And as fast as he he is on the track, the offers from schools like UCLA are coming in just as fast.

The UCLA offer came in this week and it is enough to make the Florida native want to visit all the way out West.

"I am excited about it," he said of the offer. "I look forward to taking a visit during the season and just taking my time with this process. I like the school and where they are headed. I have never been to Los Angeles, but we'll see how it goes."

For Simmons it appears he is looking for a program that offers an enriched environment, one that isn't all about football, but does have premium talent and tradition in the sport.

"I am looking for a great environment and a place that has my major," Simmons said. "I also want a place with great coaches and players. I am interested in a place with great people around me every day."

One other program that is hard after Simmons is Florida. The Gators are in dire need of primo speed at the running back position and Simmons certainly brings that to the table. He certainly has a high opinion of the Florida program.

"Florida is up there too," Simmons said. "It's a local school and town favorite. I just want to take a couple of more visits to see how I feel there. They just need to keep playing ball."

He plans on seeing Florida in the next month or so.

"I will probably visit after my spring break and go watch a practice or two," Simmons said.
