Three at top after Julius gets Gator offer

Orlando (Fla.) Evans athlete Jalen Julius isn't a household name just yet. He only played in seven games a year ago, and even though he scored eight times on big time plays in those seven games, Julius hasn't been seen in enough football to get noticed like some others. That will change in his senior year and some colleges are getting in early on the action, including Florida.

Jalen Julius is as electric a football as you will see on the field. With big time kick returns and a very aggressive style of play, Julius has the ability to go from zero to 60 in just a step. With six scholarship offers in the fold before the weekend, Julius visited Gainesville and the Florida Gators to watch practice. He left with offer number seven.

Julius and his group that visited with him were escorted to the football facility after practice and sat down for a talk with Florida head coach Will Muschamp, running back coach Brian White, and defensive back coach Travaris Robinson (T-Rob).

"I went in Coach Muschamp's office with my mom, my girlfriend, Coach T-Rob and Coach Brian White," Julius said Sunday. "They said I have a lot of things that are special and they need me. They like my speed and how I am with the ball. They said I have fluid hips and more."

White and T-Rob were toe to toe about what side of the ball he should play. They both want Julius for their side of the ball.

"They are keeping it open about the position," Julius said. "Some of the Florida coaches like me on offense and some of them like me on defense."

"I talked the most to Coach T-Rob. He wants me at cornerback. He says I have long arms and he likes my hips."

Julius said he got an eye full when he visited.

"I really liked it," he said. "I was in the meeting room and saw how that went. I was in with the cornerbacks. It was a lot different and they used words that I never heard before. I liked the practice, they are serious. Everything was real fast.

"I like that the coaches are down to earth. They had me laughing all day. Coach T-Rob was the biggest cut up."

Julius says three schools stand out for him right now.

"Right now I would say Florida, Auburn, and probably Temple," he said. I have two close friends at Auburn (Tony Stephens and Dominic Walker). They tell me everything about it. I also really liked the campus."

Julius doesn't think he wants to wait forever to make a decision on a school, but he isn't ready to make one either. He will visit another school this week.

"I think by October I would like to make a decision, but it could go longer. I am going to Miami on Tuesday. That is all I know for now."

With his athleticism and his build, Julius promises to be a huge recruit before all is said and done. We will continue to follow the progress of his recruitment.
