Terry Norvelle's Thoughts: UF vs UConn

As Florida prepares for the rematch with UConn and this time for much bigger stakes, lots of evaluations of the 64-65 loss to the Huskies will be made. Terry Norvelle jumps in with his own opinions on the rematch and what the Gators should do to try and win this first game of the Final Four.

Kasey Hill, who did not play against UCONN earlier this season, is the perfect combination of body type and athleticism to guard Shabazz Napier.

Florida basically only used 6 players vs. UCONN which limited the press. Finney-Smith was basically the only bench player when you consider D.Walk played 2 minutes and Kurtz played 6.

Speaking of D.Walk I would sneak him on Napier for a couple of possessions per half to throw a different look. I think he could play off a few feet to protect against the blow-by and still is long enough to alter the jump shot. This also would give Wilbekin/Hill a bit of a break and chance to pressure Boatright.

UF needs to pound the paint but don't force it. UCONN will scout the Dec. 2nd game and I have to believe they will double down and roll the dice with the UF perimeter game. Worst thing UF could do is consistently try to go to work down low against double teams. One on one yes but post players working against double teams usually means bad shots or turnovers.

Abuse the glass! Napier is the Huskies leading rebounder. We are not talking 6'9" Kyle Anderson here. Napier is a 6' guard. BTW, their center, Nolan, fouled out against the Gators in 11 minutes of action.

This is another good team for Chris Walker to match up with. Much like UCLA, the Huskies do not have any real burly low post type players that give Walker trouble down low on the defensive end.
