"My dad won't let me right now," McCloud told a small contingent of reporters after the Orange and Blue Debut scrimmage he witnessed Saturday.
He also said that making a commitment hasn't really crossed his mind.
"No it didn't," he said. "I am going to take my time. I haven't been to UCLA or Ole Miss. I have been to Florida State once and Miami once. I will take my officials regardless, but I just want to check out other schools."
However, the Gators have been laying the groundwork for a healthy relationship in the recruiting process. There are a lot of things McCloud likes about Florida.
"It's not too far from home," he said. I can come and watch Florida play in the Swamp. (The coaches) are building the relationship. They wanted to meet my mom. It was her first time here. My mom is into the academics, she got to see the academic part of it and the administration."
He says his parents are "very important" in the recruiting process.
McCloud doesn't know just where he will play in college. He is very good on either side of the ball… exciting with the ball in his hands and tenacious as a defensive back. He paid attention to both sides of the ball on Saturday to see just what the Gators are doing.
"The game was great," he said. "There were a lot of people here for a spring game. I watched both sides of the ball. I was picturing myself on offense or defense. I haven't decided what I want to play in college yet."
With a good deal of time still left in his recruitment, we will make sure to follow Ray Ray McCloud as he sifts through the various programs that are calling on him. Stay tuned to Scout.com for the latest.
