Damontre Harris hasn't played college basketball since the 2011-12 season at South Carolina. He was one of the best shot blockers in the country that season, averaging 2.3 blocks, but decided to leave the Gamecocks and find another school when the season ended.
He looked hard at Kansas before ultimately deciding to transfer to Florida. NCAA transfer rules forced him to sit out the 2012-13 season, but instead of getting on the floor to start the 2013-14 season, Harris faced a suspension to start the season before deciding to leave Gainesville. He changed his mind over Christmas break and wanted to return, contacting Florida coach Billy Donovan to ask for another chance.
Donovan granted it, placing strict guidelines on the way Harris would return to the team. He lived up to those expectations while practicing with the team, but after the season came to an end, Harris began to slip and not live up to his end of the bargain.
Donovan will address the media on Thursday morning.
