Pete Alonso and Logan Shore were the two selections, both being named to the second team. Florida coach Kevin O'Sullivan has now had 11 Freshmen All-Americans, including at least one in six of his seven seasons at Florida.
Alonso hit .264 with four home runs, 32 RBI, 19 walks and 18 runs scored during his freshman season. He started 58 games as a freshman for Florida with 30 of them coming at designated hitter, 24 at first base and four at third base. His best play game against SEC opponents, batting .290 with 23 RBI and all four of his home runs.
Shore ended the season 7-4, leading the team with a 2.16 ERA while striking out 68 hitters in 95.2 innings, also earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors. Like Alonso, Shore dominated SEC teams. He finished the year 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA in conference play. His seven wins tied for the lead in conference wins for any pitcher.
