Freshman nabs first offer

Dr. Phillips DE/OLB Dylan Meeks lands his first scholarship offer this past May.

Dylan Meeks is one of two outstanding 2017 prospects from Orlando Dr. Phillips. Meeks, 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, recently landed his first scholarship offer.

"Tulane offered Dylan," said Rodney Wells, Dr. Phillips coach. "He's another one of these All-American types, all everything types. He's got a great future in front of him.

"Dylan has grown and had a great spring. I think he's a linebacker in college but we need him here to put his hand down and play defensive end. He's too big and too good."

Meeks camped at Florida and is expected to camp at Boston College, Northwestern, Illinois and Iowa State this summer with his older brother Colby, who is a rising senior on the team.

The other outstanding freshman in their 2017 class is offensive tackle Calvin Ashley. He is regarded as one of the very best in that class from the state of Florida right now.
