The Florida Gators are still looking to add play makers to the mix on offense and one direction they went to in the last recruiting cycle was C.J. Worton. The flashy receiver from South Florida can be electric with the ball in his hands. Worton has really put time in this off-season to prepare to make noise early during his time in Gainesville.
"Summer has been great," Worton said Monday. "I've been working with my high school coach Michael Campos who happens to be my brother's (JJ) best friend. He's been pushing me both in the weight room and in conditioning."
Worton knows he has to add some muscle and bulk to his frame and has really done that in the last several months.
I am 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds," he said. "I ‘ve put on 11 pounds since the end of the season. It feels great."
Worton wants none of the red-shirt talk. He is on a mission to try and play early at Florida.
"I want to work my way into a starting position and just make as many plays as I need to make an impact as a freshman," he said.
As for the type of player he is and that Gator fans will see out of him?
"I'm a competitor," he said. "I hate losing and will do anything to win."
Worton reports to campus on Tuesday and will be rooming with fellow wide receiver Ryan Sousa.
