Porter: "Trust… it will be a show"

After finishing in the top six nationally in both the triple jump and the high jump, Florida Gator freshman cornerback Deiondre Porter wants Gator fans to understand they are getting a highlight reel of a player. Porter is all about work and put in a bunch of it this off-season to be ready for his freshman year, which starts Tuesday.

Hard work and dedication are easy for Tampa star Deiondre Porter, who has always worked hard for everything he has. A multi-sport athlete at Jefferson High School, Porter is used to maintaining his body all year long. It has been no different leading up to arriving at Florida on Tuesday.

"It was a great summer," Porter said by phone on Monday. "My main focus has been being in shape and getting faster. I feel like I have become more explosive during this off-season. I am so ready. I just want to get started with the workouts… curious to see how my freshman year goes."

When asked to explain how he approaches the sport of football, Porter doesn't hold back and expects to compete early to get on the field.

"I bring a passion for the game," he said. "There are going to be a lot of people with crazy talent but I feel no one has the heart that I have when I play the game of football. I want to get on the field and help win a national championship."

He wants Gator fans to know that they are going to enjoy watching him play.

"They will get four years of a passionate, fun Gator student athlete," he said of the fans. "Trust… it will be a show."
