Donovan continues tough scheduling with Miami

Billy Donovan and the Men's Basketball program at Florida continue to add to an already tough preseason schedule for the 2014-2015 season. Continuing the turned that Donovan started on several years ago, Donovan has been adding big time non-conference games for several years now willing to take the tradeoff of tough opponents to prepare for the season and post season.

With the willingness to take on a tough schedule, Florida added the University of Miami to the schedule for this season and next. The ACC member and in-state opponent will take on the Gators in Gainesville on Monday, Nov. 17, for the second home game of the season. The first date has yet to be filled. Florida will make a return visit to Miami for the 2015-16 season.

Florida leads the all-time series, 45-22 and it is the first meeting between the two since the 2009 NIT. The teams last played a home-and-home series in the 2004-05 (at UF) and 2005-06 (at UM) seasons, with the road team winning both contests.

Florida continues a string of early season tough schedules and adds another quality opponent to its non-conference schedule. The Gators will play in a tournament atmosphere for the Battle 4 Atlantis which could mean matching up with any of UCLA, North Carolina, Florida, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Butler, Oklahoma and/or UAB. Florida also plays at Kansas on Dec. 5, and at the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise (Fla.) on Dec. 20.

In the 2013-14 season played at Wisconsin, FSU in Gainesville, Kansas in Gainesville, and at Connecticut among other opponents in the pre-conference schedule. Donovan and company continue to play one of the more daring schedules in college basketball which continues to help later in the season and when it comes time for the NCAA selection committee to choose teams that have played the tough schedules.
