The Gainesville Sun reported that DeVon Walker’s ACL tear happened on Friday. The timeline of his recovery makes it unlikely that Walker will see the court during the 2014-15 season.
Walker was expected to see minutes on the perimeter for the Gators this season. The length of his 6-6 frame created havoc on the defensive end and would’ve earned a spot in the rotation and competed for a starting spot.
He started seven games last season as a sophomore at Florida, averaging 2.4 points in 12.1 minutes per game. He shot 30.2 percent from behind the three-point line, and three-pointers accounted for 19 of his 25 made field goals last year.
This could mean even more of an opening for freshman forward Devin Robinson to make an impact.
