The glue guy for the group could be center Tyler Jordan. The three-star road grater from Jacksonville’s Bishop Kenny High School has offers from all over the southeast, but decided early that Florida was the place for him. Since then Jordan has been on a crusade to get other to join him with his pledge to the Gators. Looking at the list below, he should be busy Friday night.
The headliner of the group is Apopka (Fla.) 5-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey. Ivey is rated the top offensive lineman in the country by Scout and basically a can’t miss prospect. He’s been to Florida numerous times and is thought to be a Florida lean although you will never hear that from him. Auburn is in the picture big here because of teammate Chandler Cox who committed to the Tigers, but getting Ivey on campus again is always big whether he competes or not.
Montverde (Fla.) Montverde Academy 4-star offensive tackle Abdul Bello is expected in as well and he has been to Florida a few times already. The Nigerian born Bello is an awesome athlete trapped inside a prototype tackle’s body. He moves so well, but does have a lot to learn. Florida is in on this one big and would like to continue to make a positive impression on the in-state all-star.
Greenbelt (Md.) four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Prince is yet another monster tackle that is expected in. Florida has done fairly well in the DC area and Prince has maintained his positive thoughts on the Gators. Getting him in and in this kind of atmosphere is huge.
The Gators will be graduating two inside players after the 2014 season and the third will be a junior. Getting guards in the 2015 class is imperative.
New Smyrna Beach (Fla.) four-star offensive guard Jalen Merrick attended camp at Florida back in June and was a star. He is back and looking forward to a big challenge from the defenders on hand. Like Bello, he is raw, but also very athletic, especially for an interior player. This is thought to be a Florida – South Carolina battle at this time and again this could be a big visit.
One prospect that performed very well at The Opening and his headed to Gainesville is 4-star offensive guard Matthew Burrell of Woodbridge (Va.) Hylton. Again, Burrell is just what the doctor ordered, bi (6-4, 305), physical, and very athletic for his size. This will be his first trip to Gainesville and the gators will want to make a big impression.
It’s a return visit for 3-star guard Brandon Sandifer of Warner Robins (Ga.) Northside and the 6-foot-3, 329 pounder is also going to be making his college choice sometime over the weekend. Sandifer was in camp last month in Gainesville and impressed. After he visits Florida, he will camp at South Carolina and again make his choice. Big weekend for him and the schools in attention.
The Gators would take every one of the above prospects if they had the choice. The offensive line is such a crucial need in the 2015 class and they seem to be on the best of the best and most will attend Friday Night Lights. Florida is looking for fireworks.
