Saivion Smith (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) is a 2016 cornerback in the next class. This 6-foot-2, 185-pounder already has four-stars next to his name. Smith comes with a lofty ranking as the nation’s No. 9 ranked cornerback.
Smith is back on the Gator campus. He was here this summer as well as a time as a kid.
”I came for a one day camp when I was young and I was back earlier this summer,” Smith said. “I love it here. Florida has a great fan base and the coaches are great. Of course the school is great. That’s first. And I know some people that go here.”
The later is big for Smith. His biggest contact is none other than Gator star defensive end Dante Fowler. The two are from the same high school – Lakewood.
”Dante Fowler is a good contact,” Smith said. “He tells me a lot of good things about the school and football program. I know he loves it. He said they treat him right and treat him good. He gets a lot of love from the fans and the coaches take care of him.”
”I don’t have a list right now,” Smith said. “I want to make a few more visits. I would like to make a list closer to the fall.”
Smith said he visited Florida, UCF, Clemson and Virginia Tech this summer. He wants to hold off on any decision until he makes more visits, specifically official visits next fall when he’s a senior. Smith also wants to wait and see what other new offers he lands.
