”We have been here since Thursday,” Coney said. “I saw everything on my last visit. I showed my mom around and we talked with the coaches. She had questions. We saw the Mechanical Engineering building and met with the academic staff. Tomorrow we will do a little more and then head home.”
Coney, 6-foot-1, 222-pounds, is a big prize, as he’s one of the nation’s top inside linebackers. He knows that mom will have to sign off on his college choice. Coney now knows that the Gators made a big impression on her.
”She loves it and is excited,” Coney said. “It was her first visit. Florida is close to home and she come to all the home games. She is loving it, the campus, and the coaches. She thinks they are great guys.”
Coney recently trimmed his list to ten schools. But now it appears that three teams stand above the others with one in the lead.
”I don’t know when I will commit but it will be soon. Maybe in two or three weeks,” Coney said. “Florida leads and is my No. 1 team right now. They have been on me hardest, since day one before the stars and rating. They have wanted me since my sophomore year and I like the program.
