Gators unveil non-conference schedule

A difficult non-conference schedule has become the norm for Florida basketball, and the 2014-15 season will be no different. The Gators announced their non-conference schedule on Wednesday.

After an exhibition game against Barry University on November 6, Florida opens the regular season against William & Mary on November 14. The Florida football team will host South Carolina the following day.

The Gators renew their rivalry with Miami this year, hosting the Hurricanes on November 17. A matchup with Louisiana-Monroe on November 21 serves as Florida’s last home game before it heads to the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Florida will participate in the Battle 4 Atlantic with North Carolina, UCLA, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Butler, Oklahoma and UAB. Schedules for the event haven’t been announced.

Things don’t get easier after that. After returning from the Bahamas, Florida travels to play at Kansas on December 5.

Three games against Yale (December 8), Texas Southern (December 12) and Jacksonville (December 14) give the Gators a small break on the strength of schedule. The Gators then hit the road for the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla., and will face Wake Forest on December 20.

After the Christmas holiday, Florida travels to play Florida State on December 30. The Gators close out conference play by hosting national champion Connecticut on January 3.

Game times and television arrangements haven’t been announced.
