Badgers the Favorite for Thurmon

Chicago Mt. Carmel (Ill.) defensive tackle Kevin Thurmon talks about his offer from Wisconsin.

After a good camp performance at Wisconsin in June, Kevin Thurmon added a Badger offer on Saturday night, the first Big Ten offer for the 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive tackle.

"I feel very excited," he said. "I like Wisconsin a lot. I feel good."

That camp allowed Thurmon to work closely with the staff and see more of the school.

"I like it a lot. I'm very interested in the school and coaching staff. I like the defensive line coach (Chad Kauha'aha'a). I think he's a very good coach, and I'd love to play for him."

On a commitment date, Thurmon says, "if not this month, then either of my first two games."

Thurmon holds other offers from Bowling Green, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Cincinnati. However, the Badgers are in strong position for him.

"They're favorite," he admitted.

The offer was a big moment for Thurmon, and he realizes he could not have gotten there without some great people around him.

"None of this would have happened without Coach Frank (Lenti) and Coach (Mark) Antonietti, and God and my father."
