Toohill talks Stanford commitment

San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic linebacker Casey Toohill took an unofficial visit to Stanford on Monday and as expected, committed to the Cardinal.

Casey Toohill is an intriguing player who missed seven games as a junior after breaking his arm. On film, he's an impressive athlete who plays as a standup outside 'backer and is a natural pass rusher.

He has very good size at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds and can run. At the NIKE Camp in Dallas last spring, Toohill clocked a 4.61-40 (electric), 4.31 shuttle and jumped 34" in the vertical. He camped with Stanford in June and picked up the scholarship offer a week ago.

Once Stanford offered, it seemed like a matter of when, not if he would commit to the Cardinal.

"I just committed to Stanford," Toohill said while on his unofficial visit," Toohill said. "Stanford had everything I was looking for, it's the perfect combination of athletics and academics. I love the coaching staff and Coach Anderson was my primary recruiter and he's a great guy.

"I love the school itself and the football program as well. They want me as an outside linebacker and I think I'll fit in very well there. It's a great feeling right now having this decision behind me. I wanted to have it out of the way before school started and now I can just focus on my senior year. We open up with Folsom (Calif.) and Oaks Christian so I'm excited to get going."

In addition to the Cardinal, Toohill held offers from Boston College, Nevada, San Diego State, Utah, Utah State, Washington, Washington State and most of the Ivy League.
