Chauncey Gardner Quick Hitter

Chauncey Gardner is one of three players from the class of 2016 to announce their intentions to play for the University of Florida. The No 8 ranked safety prospect in the country, Gardner checks in from Cocoa (Fla) at 5-foot-11, 187-pounds.

Chauncey Gardner, Tre Jackson and Tyler Byrd have put the Gator recruiting class of 2016 off to a good start. Gardner is the highest ranked player to date in the Gator class.

"It's a great feeling knowing all D-1 schools wanted me," Gardner said. "I just wanted to make my parents proud."

Gardner is a physically gifted athlete with great ball skills and quickness. What did the Florida coaching staff see in the future Gator safety?

"Bring the fire when needed and being able to help my teammates." Gardner said.

Gardner and his family are extremely excited to be part of the Gator nation, and head coach Will Muschamp is one of the reasons why.

"Great relationship," Gardner said. "Everything is a process and I am all for what he is trying to do for Gainesville, to keep them satisfied."

Gardner is fully committed to the Gators and isn't focusing on other teams trying to recruit him.
