Javarius Davis came to Friday Night Lights in Gainesville a couple of weeks ago and didn’t work out. That was okay as he worked out for the coaching staff at Florida just a month earlier in a hot sun shiny day in The Swamp. The staff didn’t offer him in June and not even up until Friday Night Lights, but a day later he got the call.
On August 1, the first day prospects are allowed to receive written scholarship offers, the Florida Gators made sure that Davis had one. Davis has maintained his commitment to North Carolina through all of this, but on Saturday it all added up to a visit to Gainesville again to talk to the coaches and players for the first time since he did get an offer.
Davis said it was a good visit.
Tweeting out a picture of himself in Gator garb from The Swamp, Davis let the world know he was in Gainesville earlier on Saturday. He said it was a last minute visit but that it was “great”.
With his first trip since the offer Davis says the feel was a little different this time around.
“Nothing but great vibes from everybody,” he said about the trip.
He enjoyed the little bit of practice time he watched, and said if there was anything he took away from this trip compared to others he has made it was simple.“It’s the same as last, but now I feel wanted a lot by everybody,” he said.
Next up for Davis is another trip to Gainesville to watch the boys in action.
“I’ll probably go to the Kentucky game,” he said.
Florida hasn’t had a guy pegged as a return man since Brandon James did his thing several years ago. Davis is that kind of athlete and certainly the Florida staff is trying to sell him on that as well as being a dynamic slot receiver in a new wide open offense.
Stay tuned to Scout as we continue to follow the recruitment of Davis.
