Three suspended for opener

Florida head coach Will Muschamp announces three suspensions for the home opener against Idaho.

It was a good off-season for the Florida Gators in terms f off-the-field issues but evidently not a perfect one. Florida head coach Will Muschamp, through the team’s Gator Zone website and writer Scott Carter, announced that three players will miss the home opener due to issues off the field.

Red-shirt freshman defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick, sophomore receiver Demarcu Robinson, and senior defensive tackle Darious Cummings will not participate Saturday when the Gators p[lay host to the Vandals.

"Jay-nard Bostwick and Darious Cummings will not play due to a violation of team rules and Demarcus Robinson will miss the game due to a university sanction that is now resolved,'' Muschamp said in the release by the school. "I support the university sanction. We have rules here that we have to follow -- team, athletic department and university rules -- and when you don’t follow them there are consequences.”

The Gators are a 36 point favorite for the contest today, but are looking to come out of a funk from a dismal 2013 season which saw them lose the last seven games of the year. All hands on deck would be nice today, but Muschamp says he expects them all to be back for the next game.

"I expect all three players to return next week,” he said.
