Rapid Recap: Florida-Kentucky Week (9/11)

The Gators open up SEC competition this weekend when they host Kentucky. Florida's offense coached up by coordinator Kurt Roper and led by quarterback Jeff Driskel is ready for another big performance.

Cody Jones and Amanda Wood talk this week about preparations for the Florida vs. Kentucky match up at 7:30 PM in The Swamp this Saturday. Florida comes in high off of a 65-0 win over Eastern Michigan while the Wildcats are 2-0 and looking like a team on the rise.

The Gators had a lot of big things happen on offense last week and want to continue, including speeding up the game a little more than what we saw. Florida averaged 14 seconds left on the play clock on Saturday and Roper would like that number to get to 18 seconds remaining on the 35 second clock.

The Florida secondary took a little hit this week when backup freshman cornerback J.C. Jackson was re-injured in the game and will now have to have surgery to repair a shoulder injury that he arrived at Florida with. The numbers are really low at corner and the Wildcats present a big challenge with their all-around speed at receiver. Cody and Amanda discuss the situation and how the Gators should do.

The offensive line took a hit as well when starting left tackle D.J. Humphries had to leave the field with what would later be determined a high ankle sprain and a bone chip in his leg. Humphries won't be out for much of the season, but will at least miss the next two games. That moves Chaz Green over from right tackle and red-shirt freshman Roderick Johnson into the right tackle spot to make his first ever start. Jones and Wood give you their feelings on that as well.
