Gators Injury Report

The Gators received a little more bad news from the 42-21 loss at Alabama. Some new injuries popped up that will likely leave three new players out of the game against Tennessee in two weeks.

The big loss at Alabama hurts a little more after Florida head coach Will Muschamp listed off the injury report on Wednesday.

Senior defensive tackle Leon Orr who had a good game Saturday will likely miss the Tennessee contest as will senior middle linebacker Michael Taylor. Sophomore running back Mark Herndon was injured on kickoff coverage and will miss the entire year.

“Leon Orr had a scope (microscopic surgery) on Monday for a small tear in his meniscus,” Muschamp said via his SEC teleconference Wednesday. “He will be questionable for Tennessee. It depends on how well he comes back. He was walking around yesterday, so it depends on the situation. Mark Herndon tore his ACL. He got it caught in the turf and I am disappointed for Mark he was very good on special teams for us. I will have to ask some guys to fill that void there.

“Michael Taylor has some swelling on his knee. He will probably be questionable for Tennessee.”

On a good note, junior starting left tackle D.J. Humphries, senior starting right tackle Chaz Green, and senior starting right guard Trenton Brown are expected back for Tennessee. Humphries has missed the last two games after sustaining a small break and high ankle sprain in game one. Green and Brown were both injured in the Alabama contest with Brown not being able to finish the contest.

"D.J. Humphries we think will be back,” Muschamp said of his return for Tennessee. “He ran yesterday and looked good. He should be back at practice Monday. Chaz and Trenton were banged up a little bit but will be fine.”

In all it a pretty healthy bunch and there seems to be only two players that aren’t currently out for the year that will miss the October 4, contest with Tennessee.

“Leon and Mike are probably the only guys (out),” Muschamp said. “We think we will get back D.J.”
