Finding big men with good ball skills isn’t easy, but Florida thinks they have done that with Deerfield Beach (Fla.) Zion Lutheran small forward Keith Stone. At 6-foot-8 and 240 pounds, Stone has a great ability to handle the ball and get to the rim.
Stone has been working hard in the off-season preparing for his senior year and says he is even stronger than scouts saw of him this summer.
“It has been good,” he said about the off-season. “I put on some more muscle and I’ve been in the gym a lot.
Stone says it should be an exciting year at Zion Lutheran.
We have a great team this year,” he said. “Most of the team consists of juniors and seniors and two freshman and we are looking to win a state ring.
He’s not interested in personal goals. He tells Scout.com that he really wants to help the other guys on the team reach their goals.
“I want to get all my teammates D-1 scholarships and to get a state ring,” he said about personal goals.
The University of Florida is recruiting Stone hard and have offered the skilled senior.
“Florida is after me the hardest calling and texting me every day and Billy calls me almost every week,” Stone said. They tell me that I have many skills most high school players don't have and a willing passer, also at 6-foot-8, I can handle and shoot the ball very well.
Stone really likes what the Gators program offers.
“I think it's a great program and School wise it's a great place to go… like no other,” he said.
Not really ready to name any other schools of interest at this point, Stone says there are several showing interest and he isn’t ready to make a decision yet.
“A lot of others are slowly calling in,” he said. “I haven't made my mind up yet. I'll be signing late.”
