Central Gwinnett juniors doing big things

Adonis Thomas is the guys getting all the press in the 2015 class, but head coach Todd Wofford of Lawrenceville (GA) Central Gwinnett has a couple of 2016 prospects that are stars of their own. They are a big part of the team’s early success this season.

“Things are going pretty good right now,” Wofford said Thursday afternoon about the early season. “We are on a three game winning streak. We aren’t playing as good as we possibly can be playing, but we have won the last three. We are getting better each week.

At 6-foot-6 and 267 pounds, 2016 offensive tackle E.J. Price is a huge part of the Knight’s program and their success. His athletic ability is off the charts and he plays with power as well.

“E.J is doing well playing tackle,” Wofford said. “He could play both ways and would add size and athletic ability on either side. He is a monster.”

On the other side of the ball, Wofford made a move with running back Nigel Adams and moved him to linebacker. The move has paid off for the junior as he received his first power-5 conference offer.

“We have another linebacker (other than Thomas), Nigel Adams, he’s a junior,” Wofford said. “He picked up a Vanderbilt offer right now. He’s playing well too. He played running back for me the last two years and he brings a lot to the linebacker position. He’s about 6-foot and 220 .He is very athletic and very physical.

“Being a running back he has good feet and hands. He just brings another physical player over there. We run a 3-4 and when he and Adonis are inside, they are big and athletic guys. Everybody asks about him and is on him. He gets a ton of mail from Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia. A lot of people are after him.”

Price is already a highly recruited prospect. He has offers from all over the country and could basically name his school at this point. But, he really hasn’t done much with the recruiting process.

“He’s still in the early stage,” Wofford said of his star tackle. “He gets so much mail and talks to a lot of schools. He has been to a Georgia game and will go to Auburn this weekend. From the first time they could make contact with him, those two have been on him for a long time. Ohio State, and Virginia Tech, everybody has huge interest in him. Florida offered a while back and they aren’t coming this week, but Coach Durkin told me the next off-week that he and Coach Muschamp were coming to see Adonis and E.J.

“He hasn’t eliminated anyone or anything. He is just playing and taking it all in.”
