Jackson is all Gator

Kalif Jackson scored on a 66-yard touchdown pass to help his Neptune Beach (Fla. ) Fletcher team defeat Jacksonville Atlantic Coast 29-16 on Friday. He will be helping Florida in 2015.

Kalif Jackson went to all of his teammates just before taking the field in the early part of the third quarter and he told them, "I am about to get one". The Fletcher Senators had just scored for only the second touchdown of the night a series earlier, and the momentum of the game was ready to be fully turned to Fletcher.

After a running play gained four yards on first down to the Fletcher 34 yard-line, Jackson lined up on the left side in a stack formation and directly behind another receiver. With a little forward run and a slight jab step to the left, Jackson was in the clear and ran like he had wings. The ball cradled into his arms about 35 yards down field and he finished the rest of the play off for a 66-yard touchdown. He lived up to what he told his teammates before the series.

Although Jackson was done scoring for the night, watching him on the sideline, you can see what a leader he is. Constantly in the face of teammates when getting out of line and consoling them when they need a pat on the back, Jackson has accepted that role as a senior on a very good Fletcher football team.

It was a tough night with two Senator players going down with likely season ending injuries, but Jackson is bound and determined to not let the team struggle for it.

All of these traits and his physical presence as a big receiver propelled Jackson into a scholarship offer to Florida as a big receiver / B position athlete. He committed to the Gators shortly after the offer and tells us in this video, that he won't be looking anywhere else no matter what.
