Rapid Recap: Florida 27 - LSU 30

Florida tried some new things on offense on Saturday, and some worked. It wasn't enough as the Gators fell in a close game to LSU in The Swamp.

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel can't be faulted for not trying. He's a work horse of a guy, but a lot of times that work doesn't turn into production on the football field. Saturday night was a mixed bag for Driskel. You could say he was directly responsible for 14 points that the gators scored, through the air and the ground, but also a guy who made key errors including a fumble and two interceptions to help seal the fate of the Gators as they lost the game.

Florida did find an effective weapon in freshman running back Brandon Powell in the game. Florida head coach Will Muschamp talked about wanting to use more of Powell in the last couple of games, but a hamstring injury sidelined the flashy offensive star. Powell showed great quickness and terrific speed on a few plays the Gators utilized him and looks to be a big part of the offense moving forward.

Andre Debose was probably the star of the day for the Gators. The record setting return man scored on a punt return and nearly scored on a second one. He also ran the ball on a jet sweep for 35 yards. He was a significant part of the total plan on the day.
