Recruit Reaction to Muschamp firing

Recruiting is such a key ingredient for a football program and the changing of head coaches usually causes a huge shift in recruiting for whatever program undergoes a change. With Will Muschamp let go at the University of Florida on Sunday, we caught up with several Florida prospects to see what they are thinking about it.

THE COMMITS

Jacksonville Bishop Kenny offensive lineman Tyler Jordan: "I don't want to make any comments until I get a chance to talk to the staff. Coach Muschamp is a great coach and a great man. I have the utmost respect for him."

Neptune Beach Fletcher tight end Kalif Jackson: "I'm still committed to the University of Florida."

Cincinnati (Fla.) Winton Woods OT George Brown: "I hope coach Summers stays but no matter what I'm a Gator 100%."

Warner Robins (Ga.) Northside OG Brandon Sandifer: "It is what it is. I still plan to go to Florida. Muschamp is a great guy and I wish him the best of luck."

Dade City Pasco DT Andrew Ivie: "I really think coach Muschamp is a great guy, but I have to trust that UF is doing what they think is best for the football program. My commitment to Florida has always been solid, and the news does not change my commitment. I wish coach Muschamp and his family all the best."

2016 Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab CB Tre Jackson: "I have all the respect in the world for Coach Muschamp and I wish him the best in the future." When I asked if this effect's his commitment status, he said, "I will wait and talk to the staff before I make any actions."

NON-COMMITTED PROSPECTS

Miami Westminster Christian RB Jordan Conkrite: "I'm shocked, but I feel like he'll be back on his feet sooner than later."

Jacksonville Ed White athlete Javarius Davis: "I am speechless -- I really think Coach Muschamp is a good coach." When asked if Florida is still in the mix, he said, "Probably not."

St. Petersburg Lakewood WR Ryan Davis: "I still love them. Like I said before you don't go to a school for a coach."

Miami Booker T Washington WR Antonio Callaway: "I'm still considering florida and I figured it would happen sooner or later."

2016 Viera (Fla.) WR Tre Nixon: “I feel really bad for him and wish him and his family well. He was always a very respectful, funny and nice guy when I spoke with him. I hope UF and the players are able to stay positive. It must be difficult for the players to lose a head coach."

Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett TE/Hybrid Daniel Imatorbhebhe: "It is sad to see Muschamp go because I knew what a genuine person he is. Coach Muschamp cared about his players first and I hate to see him go." Imatorbhebhe said he is still considering UF.

Miami Booker T Washington TE Devonaire Clarington: "Damn, I didn't know."

Ocala Trinity Catholic 2016 DE Jordan Woods: "I feel sorry that he had to be let go, but you must fall in love with a school not a coach. I like coach Muschamp a lot but I hope I can keep my offer and impress the coaches."

Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County LB Roquan Smith:"I was speechless when I found out. I woke up to it and my coach texted me about it. It caught me off guard. This hurts Florida because I was really high on Muschamp."

Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett LB Adonis Thomas: "I kind of knew something like this could take place, but I did not think it would happen this early. I thought it would happen after the season. I am going to wait and see who the new coach is and speak with him before I decide anything."

Snellville (Ga.) Shiloh CB Jeremy McDuffie: "It is crazy because I do not know how the recruiting and everything will go now. He was a defensive coach and their defense was great. I do not know what will happen because we are so late in the process right now."

Seffner Armwood DE Byron Cowart:"I do wanna say that he is a great man more than a coach, a great father figure and I person that I hate it happened to. I still love the guy. As for his interest in the gators, "I am still highly interested."

Apopka OT Martez Ivey: "I was shocked when I heard about it. But, at the end of the day it's about wins and losses. It's a job and they get paid to win, so you can't be effected by coaching changes. This doesn't effect my thoughts about the Gators."

Stay tuned as we add to this story when we catch up with more prospects.

Scout.com analysts Jason Higdon, Chad Simmons, Jamie Newberg, Amy Campbell, Corey Bender, and Bill Greene provided quotes on all of the prospects above.
