Spotlight: Gator prospect Roquan Smith

The Gators didn't sign a single linebacker in the 2014 class. The position is a huge need for 2015. One of the best in the country is Roquan Smith of Montezuma(Ga.) Macon County who is the second ranked middle linebacker on for the class.

With all of the unknown going on in Gator land right now, the recruiting board is likely to jump wide open again. One prospect that will likely be a big target for the new staff and head coach at Florida is Roquan Smith.

Smith has been to Florida a number of times and was very high on the Gators for much of the recruiting process. Things changed a bit when Florida announced the resignation of head coach Will Muschamp and now he is a wait and see mode when it comes to the Gators.

Chad Simmons has this to say about the all-star linebacker... "Smith is a linebacker that still has some developing to do physically, but he plays bigger than his actual weight. He brings some pop when he makes a tackle and he is a solid tackler. He gets to the ball in a hurry and he is a true sideline to sideline linebacker. He can come on a blitz or turn and run in coverage. He shines as much on offense as he does defense in high school. He has great range and leadership skills."
