McElwain meets the Pellage family

It started on his first full day of visiting prospects. The hunt for offensive linemen is going to be so big for Jim McElwain and his Florida Gators. The Gators may return none offensive linemen next year from the 2014 season and that number should be double in terms of what the roster should have. So, McElwain went to see Christian Pellage.

Brooksville, Nature Coast massive 4-star offensive lineman Christian Pellage visited the Florida campus in the summer and camped with the Gators. Shortly before the season started, Pellage committed to South Carolina and has remained solid in his pledge to the gamecocks.

Monday, Jim McElwain made the trip to the west coast of Florida and tried to convince Pellage to take a look at the Gators, offering up his ideas of what is in store for the program in the near future. Pellage liked what he heard.

“He’s a great guy,” the soft spoken giant of a lineman said of the Gators new coach. “He seemed to have a great game plan for Florida, It was nice of him to come by and speak with my family and I. I really appreciated it.”

Pellage listened to McElwain’s rebuilding plan at Florida and thought the new coach seemed, “very straight up and relaxed” in his role as a recruiter.

He liked what he heard, but he isn’t quite ready to say he will be visiting Florida before signing day in February.

“It is tough to say now,” he said about a possible visit. “We have to see what time allows me to do.”

In the meantime he knows of one sure visit, and that is to South Carolina on January 24.

Given the real need along the offensive line at Florida and the proximity of which Pellage lives, he sis someone in the 2015 recruiting class that we really need to keep our eye on at Fightin’ Gators and we will.
