Scout Spotlight Gator target Deondre Francois

Florida head coach Jim McElwain is in search of a quarterback in his 2015 recruiting class. There is no doubt that Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy flame thrower Deondre Francois is a big target for the new leader of Gator Nation.

Deondre Francois has all the tools to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country. The 6-foot-1.5 , 193 pound Francois has a cannon of an arm and is also very athletic when he needs to be. More of a drop back passer by trade, he is the kind of player McElwain is looking for at the position.

One major issue is that he is currently committed to Florida State. But, while he is committed he is starting to look elsewhere for other places to land and McElwain was in to see him last week and he may come look in the direction of the Gators.

Scout.com national analyst Jamie Newberg talked highly of Francois and his ability.

Francois has emerged as the top true quarterback prospect from the state of Florida," Newberg posted on his bio on the network. "He has good size and excellent athletic ability. While he's a true dual-threat quarterback because of his running ability there's no question that Francois is a pocket first quarterback. He possesses a good arm and sometimes that's a detriment, as he needs to learn to throw at different speeds. Francois makes good decisions, sees the field and is a leader."
