Jackson talks official and McElwain

There hasn’t been much for Neptune Beach (Fla.) Fletcher receiver Kalif Jackson not to like about the new hire of Jim McElwain as the head coach at Florida. Two weeks ago he got to meet the man for the first time and likes his new situation even more.

Kalif Jackson got to officially visit Florida for the December weekend before the holiday break and was hosted by another Jacksonville area receiver with a similar skill set.

Ahmad Fulwood was my host,” The 6-foot-4, 200 pound Jackson said of his visit. “I know him extremely well since he’s from the same city as me and kind of mentored me. He told me I need to come in and be ready to go.”

And while Jackson was here he got to meet McElwain for the first time after only previously talking to him on the phone. The personal meeting went even better than expected.

“He gives off a great vibe,” Jackson said of McElwain. “You can feel it as soon as you meet him. He’s very personable and down to earth and extremely funny.”

McElwain had a similar message for Jackson as Fulwood did.

“He also just said for me to come in and compete,” he said.

We asked Jackson what he thought will be the difference between McElwain and former head coach Will Muschamp and the response was simple, “we’ll win more games”.
