Florida will get one of those visits from the three-star lineman who was a late add to the Under-Armour All-American Game festivities this week near Orlando. On day one, St. Louis really impressed and stood out.
“I felt I did very well,” Tyree St. Louis said shortly after the practice session. “I felt like I improved myself today. I felt like I showed I should have been initially invited. I felt like I did great in 1-on-1’s and picked up on the playbook. To me I treated today like I was here from the beginning.”
It wasn’t exactly easy for someone that has had a month off from football and wasn’t prepared physically to come in and go hard so quickly.
“The toughest part was just to get back into practicing and going against the best guys,” he said.
Still a commitment to Miami, St. Louis says he wants to look at a couple of places before he signs on the dotted line in February.
“I will probably take a chance and visit Florida, sometime in January,” he said. “I will also probably visit Tennessee.”
St. Louis talked about the reasons he is giving Florida a look.
“Mainly the fact they have a new coach coming in and are going to rebuild the program,” he said. They brought two of the best coaches in the nation in and I know for a fact they will be top ten or top five program in the next couple of years and they have a big need for linemen.”
Coach Mike Summers hasn’t been officially named but is expected to be announced as the offensive line coach soon and he is someone that St. Louis is very familiar with.
“I talk to Coach Summers on a daily basis,” he said. “Me and him have a good relationship. He talks about how I would be a valuable asset if I went to Florida.”
St. Louis is also friends with quite a few players on the current roster that came from the Tampa area. He knows Joey Ivie and his younger brother Andrew being recruited to Florida. He knows running back Matt Jones who is heading off to the NFL. He also knows Vernon Hargreaves and Alvin Bailey.
St. Louis says that he continues to be committed to Miami and if something bad were to happen, he could make a change from that sometime around signing day.
