Breaking Down Under-Armour Gator Prospects

Here at Scout.com we pride ourselves with our in-depth coverage of your favorite teams. With that in mind, we asked some of our hand full of dedicated scouts on site in lake Buena Vista, Florida for the Under Armour All-American game practices to evaluate the play of several of prospects Florida is after.

Scout.com national recruiting analysts Chad Simmons and Jamie Newberg along with Ohio recruiting analyst Bill Greene all give their expert opinions on the various prospects Florida is recruiting at the Under Armour festivities. We hope you can get a lot of what these guys bring to the table.

QB Deondre Francois A Florida State commitment, he will visit the Gators in January and likes the new offense that Florida will bring to the table.

Jamie Newberg says… over two days I would say the second most impressive QB here. Kid playing with some moxy and under control. You get a sense he has a real command. This kid has really improved since transferring to IMG and working with head coach Chris Weinke. The difference I see he's in more control and more accurate. He's changing speeds on his passes. He's more decisive too.

Bill Greene says… Has been either the #1 or #2 QB all week. Kyler Murray and Francois are battling. Has a great arm and touch. Can also move around in the pocket.

Chad Simmons says… One of the top two quarterbacks after two days. Was good on day one, better on day two. Big arm and can make all the throws.

RB Ray-Ray McCloud A Clemson commit, McCloud says he has no plans to visit or talk with other schools in January. There are others that say otherwise, so we are keeping watch.

Jamie Newberg says…Ray Ray is not even 100% out here. He's suffering with a knee injury and battling through it. would like to have seen him get more targets and touches because he's so explosive.

Bill Greene says… Has the quick feet and has caught the ball well.

Chad Simmons says… Just what was expected -- versatile. Working as a return man and a slot receiver. Very shifty kid with soft hands. Haven't see the big play yet, but I know it is there.

OL Christian Pellage - Current commitment of South Carolina. Has decided he will take a visit to Florida and may visit somewhere else before all is said and done. Florida may have a shot here and likes him a lot.

Jamie Newberg says… Pellage is having a rough time out here. He passes the eye ball test and looks the part but just not quite ready for this. He's gotten beaten quite a few times over the first four days. Still doesn't change the fact that he has a chance to really develop into a very good OT down the line. Just needs to put in the work.

Bill Greene says… Has great size but has been inconsistent over 2 days.

Chad Simmons says… Really needs to improve feet and agility. Has struggled so far. May actually be best as a guard in college.

Tyree St. Louis - Miami commitment that has decided to take January trips t Florida and Tennessee. The IMG Academy star likes the availability of playing time at Florida.

Jamie Newberg says…I am glad Tyree got here today. Big, Long, Good footwork... this kid can bend and move and I see him as more a future right tackle. I liked what I saw with him today.

Bill Greene says… Showed up Tuesday and impressed with his pass sets. Like this kid a lot.

Chad Simons says…Very good first day after a call up Monday night. Moved better than I expected.

OL Tyler Jordan - Committed to Florida. Jordan has been committed to Florida longer than any still in the class. Coach Summers loves this guy.

Jamie Newberg says…smaller than most of the other linemen but I dont care. Once he gets to Florida he will get big enough. Love the fact he played high school offensive tackle and came here to play guard and is now playing center. Florida needs versatile linemen that can play multiple positions across the front. I also like his fight and nastiness. He plays with some dog in him.

Chad Simmons says…Working on playing center and snapping has been solid as he learns on the fly. Very smart and very attentive.

Kendrick Norton - Not committed and the Gators have to make up some ground. Wants to play defense and Florida is recruiting him on that side of the ball although he is playing on offense this week for the under Armour game.

Jamie Newberg says…I think Kendrick Norton is one of the big surprises of this unit. He's big and massive yet gets off the ball well and plays with leverage, He’s a tough load when he's really playing behind his pads. I love him at offensive guard.

Chad Simmons says… Saw more of him on day one and he was one of the top 2-3 interior OLs on the black team. Has good mobility and put a few guys on their back.

DE Byron Cowart – Not committed. Cowart talked about committing this weekend had a lot of Gator fans really excited. It appears they will have to hold off on that excitement.

Jamie Newberg says…Cowart is Cowart out here. At times he looks freaky good and then he won't make many plays over the course of a practice. He's getting everyone's best shot and has played well. Fast, strong. Big, and learning to play with better technique. I remember seeing him as a freshman when he didn't know jack about playing. It's fun watching these guys grow up and develop.

Bill Greene says… Physically impressive and plays hard every play. Great looking talent.

Chad Simmons says… Animal. Has been dominant through two days. Just simply disruptive against the run and pass.

Adonis Thomas - Committed to Alabama and previously committed to the Gators.. Says he may visit Florida and Auburn in January. Won’t commit to those visits just yet.

Jamie Newberg says…I watched very little of Adonis Thomas but what I did watched I love. He's a long, lean, physical linebacker than knows how to fill a hole. I am real anxious to see what this cat can do on Friday when they turn him loose.

Bill Greene says… Has a great frame and is very athletic. Need to see how he holds up against the run.
