Gators recruiting board trends (Part 3)

We continue our trends look along the lines of scrimmage. The huge need for offensive line in the 2015 class can’t be understated. The Florida staff has done a great job of building a board of prospects to recruit. On the defensive side, the numbers aren’t so scary, but the staff has still done a good job of finding quality prospects. Here is how we think they are trending.

OFFENSIVE LINE

The names are plenty when talking about all of the guys the Florida staff is after on the line. Martez Ivey, Christian Pellage, Trey Derouen, Quarvez Boulware, Tyree St. Louis, Fredrick Johnson, Riley Daniel, and Nick Buchanan are all a part of the group we will talk about here.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Ivey visited Gainesville on Saturday and brought along his girlfriend and her family. From everything we have heard the visit went well. He visited Auburn last week and stayed longer, but we never get the sense he is favoring Auburn any time he leaves. After the Gainesville visit we believe things were better than we he left and they were already good.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Pellage visited Gainesville last week for his official and we know it went well. The more time that goes by we feel that Pellage and the Florida staff are becoming more and more comfortable.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

An offer is likely to happen when Derouen visits next weekend. If it does we feel confident that he will end his recruitment then. He has double digit Power 5 conference offers and I think he is someone that won’t be able to resist.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Boulware actually sought out Florida to see if they were interested. Since then, he isn’t willing to admit it, but most believe he committed to the Maryland staff. He says he will make the visit next weekend to Florida after visiting Wake Forest this week, but that supposed commitment doesn’t help us feel better about getting the 4-star lineman.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

The Gators have to work on the family more than maybe St. Louis in this instance. It appears the biggest thing keeping him committed to Miami is the family. Still, there is a lot of interest, especially with the likelihood of adding some Tampa talent to the class of whom he knows well. We are not willing to go up with the meter until dad signs off.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

He started favoring Miami a couple of weeks ago, but since then things have held firm. The gators can make a favorable impression next week when he visits. The push for him will be dependent on what they hear from others on this list.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Added to the list this week, Daniel is very excited about the offer from the Gators. He isn’t committed but favors Baylor and Texas Tech. Distance will be a big factor, but the new offer has things looking a little up for the Gators.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Another new offer form the past week. Buchanan is committed to Cal at the moment. We are hearing that the Gators have really piqued his interest since the offer, so the feeling is a good one right now.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Getting 4-5 guys on the defensive line is key. There are some big names like CeCe Jefferson and Byron Cowart, and then there are quite a few very talented and underrated prospects like Kahlil Welsh, G.G. Robinson, Jabari Zuniga, Shareef Miller, and Quandeski Whitlow.
Recruiting Stock Meter:

Welsh is the loan defensive tackle on this list and is currently committed to Wake Forest. He was just added to the board as the staff started showing interest this last week. There is no offer yet and it remains to be seen if that will happen by next week when he is scheduled in for a visit. If that offer happens look out.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Cowart visited officially this weekend and was in Gainesville all of 12 hours. Counter that with the 48 hours he visited Auburn last week and this one doesn’t look like it is headed in the right direction, even given the reasons for not staying long. I am certainly not ready to give up on Cowart, but I don’t really feel better about him now than before he showed up on his visit.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Jefferson is a little bit different. He has been quite all over the place with his visits and loves the fun of all the officials. He says he won’t be taking an official visit to Florida but will likely visit during the week unofficially. In the meantime he is in the midst of an unofficial at Ole Miss this weekend and will visit LSU next weekend officially. Ole Miss has become the other team to worry about, but we feel good as we always have with this one.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Robinson is a Louisville commitment but was real excited about the new Gator offer a couple of weeks ago. WE keep hearing very positive things on this one and his official visit next weekend could pay big dividends.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Zuniga is a prospect they have been on for a few weeks and he showed up surprisingly last week without much notice for his official visit. We hear that things couldn’t have gone better and if he and his mother didn’t have plans to visit Arkansas this weekend, something could have happened a week ago . We like the way this one is looking and believe something could happen any day now.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Another one that received a recent offer he has been on visits to Arizona State last week and Penn State this week. Florida feels like this one can be had, but he looks to be having a great time on his visits. He is expected to visit next week and we will have to see how things go, but they look good.

Recruiting Stock Meter:

Twice committed and decommitted from South Carolina, Whitlow is visiting the Gamecocks this weekend. After getting a lot of attention a couple of weeks ago when Florida showed interest it has gone kind of quiet and now South Carolina looks more in line to get him back again. Whitlow visits next week or is expected to, but we may know more after this weekend.
