Wells is a Gator

Florida head coach Jim McElwain visited Jacksonville Raines HS last week and was impressed about what he heard of receiver Rick Wells, that he sent assistant Tim Skipper to the school today to offer him.

Moments ago Rick Wells committed to the University of Florida.

“Coach Skipper came by and talked to my coach,” Wells told Scout.com. “e said I was I was the most impressive receiver talking to the head coach and they wanted to offer me.”

“It feels good just to know that they like me as a player. They want me to come up to a junior day and any time that is best for me to get on campus.”

Wells is a long receiver with speed and the staff says they like him on the outside.

“He said they will run a pro-style offense and I will have a chance to come in and play early as a freshman at the X - receiver spot,” Wells said. With offers from Purdue, North Carolina, Michigan State, and Pitt, Skipper talked to Wells on the phone after school today and Wells gave him the great news.

“I told him I want to be a Gator and commit,” Wells said of the call. “He said he was proud and that I made his day today.”
